My desk revamped

I've been pretty busy with work lately, but I managed to go to the dollar store the other day and pick up some cute stuff and reorganize my desk. Now, other than the inevitable paint job it's going to get, it's pretty well complete.

I already had a couple of things on it already but now it has some cool new little things, like, as you can probably see, the little blue thing on my desk.

It's a little trash can I found at the dollar store. Plastic, but still cute. It goes the job so now I don't have to get up to put stuff in the garbage, as the other one is on the windowsill to my left.

I also took down the string of polaroids and instead bought some cork board and cut it up into little circles and strips. I just got some thumbtacks and stuck 'em up. The string is still there for when I take more photos, but I need to buy some more film already.

This little number is my favourite find. It's just a cute little birdcage and it had a candle in it shaped like a bird. Obviously I've already burned the bird out, and I've replaced it with one of the hundreds of tealights I already have. I just hung it with string off of the light on the wall and it looks super cute.

Finally, I got this little cutie! He's one of the cheap pillow pets they had there, and I originally bought him for my bed, but I soon discovered he had a very good place on my desk.

My desk has a major slant to it, in that if I placed my trash can or my jar of pencil crayons on it, it would slide right off. I put him in the spot inside it and kept his head and torso out to level out the desk when I need it leveled out. I feel a little bad but his cute face is always looking at me~

And that's my desk! When I end up stripping it and painting it (which should be soon, I'll find out when my work schedule goes up tonight) I'll post the process we took.

CL My Queen ♡

There is a reason I listen to Korean pop music. 2NE1 is that reason. I got into Korean pop because I heard their first song with BIG BANG and fell in love. Right from the get-go, I've loved CL and her bad ass swagger. She's so confident and sexy and perfect. And now, she's released her first single. Complete with a music video that makes me so upset that I can't just up and go to South Korea for a concert.

I never thought I'd fall in love with a rapper, and yet here I am.

Pretty Big Girl Review #2: Fast & Furious 6

Alrighty so I decided to do a special PBG Review this time around simply because something magical happened. There was this radio contest on The Edge, my favourite radio station, to win tickets to an advanced screening of Fast & Furious 6. Well, I won! So last night I went down to Toronto and sat down in the big AVX with people who worked for Universal, members of the media, other reviewers, and got to watch the movie! In spirit of it all, I figured I'd do a review of the movie.

So, here's Pretty Big Girl Review #2: Fast & Furious 6!

So I've been a fan of the Fast & Furious series since the very first movie. I've always loved American Muscle and because Vin Diesel's character also has a thing for American Muscle I fell in love almost instantly. It rekindled when I watched Tokyo Drift, the third movie in the series but oddly enough the last movie in chronological order. It's a big strange, but chronologically it goes like this: The Fast & the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast & Furious, Fast 5, Fast & Furious 6, and Tokyo Drift. It's also been hinted at (and most blatantly shown at the end of Fast & Furious 6) that the 7th installment will succeed Tokyo Drift!!!

But anyway, watching Fast & Furious 6 was like getting on a roller coaster. I had high expectations that I would be blown away simply because I'm a fan of roller coasters, and this one seemed really dangerous. Of course, right from the start, they had us fall down the biggest drop ever seen to man. It started off like any Fast & Furious movie should, with a race between two beautiful cars.

It started off on a very high note with that, but it quickly became very emotional and story-oriented, unlike many of the other movies before it which were all about fast cars and races. The movie did not fall short on any story whatsoever, and I'd dare say out of the entire series this movie is the most story-concentric. It definitely tried to concentrate on the characters, their relations with each other, and how they fit into the story.

That being said, I was expecting (and hoping) for fast cars and races. Instead, what I got was story, crazy action, emotional moments, and a fucking tank. Oh, and some really good humor.

While I was definitely blown away by this movie, it also fell a little short with me in terms of what I feel a Fast & Furious movie is. To me, Fast & Furious is all about the common phrase their family coins, "Ride or Die," with fast cars, dangerous road stunts, and running from the law. This movie didn't really give me that. At most, in the movie, I counted two points where cars were the focus of the scene, and one of those times was for humorous purposes only (but don't get me wrong, it was hella funny!!!). I love how it focused on plot, but the fact that it lacked the central core of their concept made it seem not like a Fast & Furious movie at all. It seemed as if it traded in it's sweet cars for some karate lessons and stunt men, because some of the things they do in this movie are crazy.

Like this...

And this...

Oh, and we can't forget The Rock doing his stunts. Also, I had no idea who this chick was, but I liked her a lot for the .5 seconds she had a pivotal role in this movie.

Overall, I would give this movie an 8/10. It was a very good movie, had great stunts, great story, and flawless hilarity, but it lost points from me from losing the very core of what a Fast & Furious movie should be. It seemed to much like your run-of-the-mill, "I need criminals to help me catch this criminal" movie.

However, I would give it a 0/10 just for making me re-live Han's death over again. The lady next to my fiance and I had a good moment where we just wailed like walruses over it. No spoilers, since it's technically already happened...but you have to watch it again because there was something we all missed when it happened, and I don't think any of us could have seen it watching the movie.

Seriously, don't try watching it to find out. You won't. Just watch because it's great.

PROS
Great story/plot
Very good, consistent humor
Some amazing stunts
Acting is fantastic (even from The Rock)
Plot twist nobody saw coming

CONS
Not a lot of cars
Didn't feel like a Fast & Furious movie
I had to watch Han die again and I cried

Scanned Pictures & Scotty Dogs!

Ryan and I took a trip up to Alliston today and walked around for a bit before heading over to my Mom's. We went into a thrift store (one of the three downtown) and I found these two beauties and got them for a dollar!

I love Scotty dogs so these made me so happy. I might label one 'His' and one 'Hers' so Ryan and I each have a Scotty dog mug.

Also we went into the Hock Shop (which is right next door to the thrift shop) and since I got my tax return today, I decided to pick up a new game.

I'm going to play this on the way to work today!

But we stopped by my Mom's to scan my photos from my camera (which I will talk about perhaps tomorrow) even though she had to go to work. I miss living with my Mom and I wish I hadn't moved in with my Dad, because now I'm closer with my Mom than I ever was. I've become just as kooky as her, and now we kind of share kookiness back and forth and in public people look at us funny. Ryan and I left her a little present on the mirror by the front door.

And that's my day! I close up tonight but I have until Tuesday off so I can do another review and talk about my camera later on!

Pretty Big Girl Review #1: PINK Yoga Leggings

My first Pretty Big Girl review is here! I promised it a while back but work has kept me super busy, but I have three days off so I have some time to myself! I apologize in advance for the crappy photos. My phone has my only camera and it's shitty.

But my first review is of a pair of PINK yoga pants!

Specifically, my PINK SPACE pants!!!!

I got these for my birthday when my dad took me shopping in Victoria's Secret (I really needed new bras) and I've fallen in love with them...mostly because these pants give me an excuse to quote Space Core more often.

I've taken to wearing yoga pants the moment I discovered a pair of size 12 Lululemon's fit around my thighs and hips and although these aren't a $100 pair of yoga pants, they're still very high quality. Not only that, but these are a size Large! Not X-Large! I've found with other yoga pants, specifically American Eagle brand, that the crotch area rips easily and the thighs rub together and wear out far too fast. I haven't had this issue with these pants at all!

Furthermore, I was worried when I first tried them on that the band wouldn't have much give, and would give me one hell of a muffin top. I have this issue way too often because of my hourglass figure, wide thighs, and flat bum. I can fit into size 16 pants without much issue but I get a muffin top no matter what. With these pants, however, I have no noticeable muffin top at all! I also own a pair of PINK yoga shorts and this is definitely not a one-time occurrence. Both pairs don't give me any of a muffin top.

(Hello, tiger stripes! They look more like claw marks and I love 'em!)

So overall, I would give this product a 5/5. I am definitely going back to the PINK store and getting some shorts for the summer time! If you're looking for high-quality yoga pants but not at ridiculously high prices, I would definitely consider stopping by the PINK store.

PROS
Waistband has good give
High quality material
Long lasting
Super duper comfortable

CONS
 Too thin for winter
Too hot for summer
The back has to be pulled up sometimes

A little breakdown...

I had a really bad day today because my fiance and I got into a fight before he left for work. He said some really nasty stuff about me and I kind of snapped. I haven't thought this negatively about myself in a very long time but I tried my hardest not to harm myself and in the end I instead covered my leg with hurtful names I kept calling myself all day.

It was both therapeutic and painful at the same time, but I managed to keep myself from causing some serious harm.

However, my mental state isn't the best today. I was going to post up my PINK yoga pant review but I think I'm going to wait until tomorrow before work, just so I can clear my head. I'm sorry. If anyone reads my posts and is looking for it thank you for your patience.

Chores, chores, and more chores.

I have the entire day off and I have so much work ahead of me today, but it's all good work so I don't mind at all! (^3^♪

List of things I have to do today:

  • clean the entire room
  • iron-on transfer my Roxy Lalonde cosplay shirt
  • put together my mother's day gift
  • start on my PINK yoga pant review
  • also start on my Aerie sweatpant review
  • do some t-shirt recycling on a shirt I got from my grandpa's memorial poker tournament (which ended up getting shut down because it's "illegal gambling")
  • finish my John Madden shirt design (printing, ironing on, etc)

List of things I have currently done:

  • cleaned out the wax in some leftover candleholders
  • thrown more things on the floor than before

My next shift is on Tuesday so I have all this time to myself but Ryan and I are going to do something special on Sunday for my birthday, which was on Wednesday, but you know...he never has anything planned on time.

I promise I'm going to do my reviews soon! I'm a man with a plan. (Plot twist: I'm not actually a man)
